Research studies show that people with gum disease (periodontal disease, gingivitis) are almost twice as likely to have a heart attack or stroke, or their existing heart conditions are worsened. It may be that the bacteria in the gums spreads to the heart. Dentists have said for years that popping an abscess on the gums can spread bacteria through your body and possibly create a life-threatening situation.
There are two main things that you can do to prevent gum disease ~ and to either get it under control or cure it outright. Both involve removing plaque from between and around each tooth.
A denstist can clean between and around each tooth, and under the gums with a deep cleaning.
One thing that you can do at home is to use dental floss regularly.

Shame on the doctors who tell new mothers that all the signs of teething are not caused by teething. Instead, ask any mother of more than one child or any grandmother.
